A great course taught by our own Michael Galbraith.

Details:
League of American Bicyclists Traffic Skills 101 Bike Education course for on-road cycling.
Saturday, May 15th, 10am to 6pm (Working lunch)
University of Kentucky Student Center
Cost: $50 per person
Traffic Skills 101 is a pre-requisite for LAB League Certified Instructor for those interested in LCI certification.
Class format is about 5 hours of instruction and 3 hours of on-bike practice.
Class concludes with a five-mile ride around town to exemplify on-road riding conditions.

Lets get some LBIs in Lexington!

The course:
Gives cyclists the confidence they need to ride safely and legally in traffic or on the trail. The course covers bicycle safety checks, fixing a flat, on-bike skills and crash avoidance techniques and includes a student manual. Recommended for adults and children above age fourteen, this fast-paced, nine-hour course prepares cyclists for a full understanding of vehicular cycling.

It's kinda like, if I wanted to weld I could just buy a welding rig, read some instructions, and have a go at it. But if I really wanted to be a welder, teach people the skill and maybe make some money doing it, I'd invest time, money and a good amount of dues-paying in order to gain that legitimate classification.

appropriate comparison Turner.

LCI - League of American Bicyclists Certified Instructor

Chicago's Mayor Daily's Bike Ambassadors are all LCIs for example.
