Planning for Bike Lexington 2009 is in full swing and having a good time stuck in bureaucratic land with the current budget, etc.

However, that should not stop lex rides from planning and doing the great things that we do. Last year members of lex rides planned a Citizen's Velo Swap, multiple alley cats, a progressive dinner, unofficial official polo tournament, advocate breakfast, and a share the road ride. Already, there is talk of putting together and expanding many of these events.

However, if you have an idea of something you think would be cool to do, then throw it out here on the board and folks will help you plan it.

What are your ideas?

I sent this out to the listserve yesterday but forgot to post it here. I hope folks can make it.

In the past few years members of our "lexrides" community have been very proactive by creating and hosting the type of bike events we all want to do. Last year during bike month (May) members of lex rides planned a Citizen's Velo Swap, multiple alley cats, a progressive dinner, unofficial official polo tournament, advocate breakfast, and a share the road ride. Already, there is talk of putting together and expanding many of these events.

Lets all get together tomorrow (Thursday) night at The Side Car (next to Al's bar on 6th and Lime) at 8:00 p.m. to brainstorm what type of things we want to do. Even if you don't have the time to host the event still come down and share your ideas! I think the last 3 years we have done some amazing things and this group is not known to sit around and wait for others to do it.

The Side Car
8 p.m.
Bring ideas and beer money
The Mahjongg show starts at 9 p.m. next door so we will keep it to an hour.

Here is a short list of events that I already know are being planned
-Drag race alley cat
-Weekly bike-in movies
-Bike Progressive Dinner
-Share the road ride and party
-Commuter/Advocate Breakfasts
-Your idea

Cheers
Tim

Wondering if their has been a space found for the velo swap, Pedal Power is offering up the parking lot of the shop if needed.

The Calendar for Bike Lexington is coming together and there are going to be some great events!! We will be dialing in the calendar over the next two weeks and should have a solid list of events available to the public by mid-March...
