2nd Annual Lexington Halloween Alleycat - 2007
Wed. October 31st - Halloween Night!
Woodland Park (meet at the bike polo area next to the skatepark)
registration: 8pm
race: 8:30pm
race fee: $5

Finish / afterparty: The Icehouse (with music & horror movies on the bigscreen)

All riders / bike lovers welcome! Think of this one as more of an event than a race (although there will be top prizes for those who finish fastest).

- COSTUMES ARE A MUST!!! after all, it's Halloween people!

- Expect a fun night of the unexpected - there will be many components of the race (checkpoints, off-bike tasks, secret stops, and possibly even a scavenger hunt element), with many opportunities for prizes throughout.

- Be prepared for tricks and treats - something to help you carry a few small items while you ride is recommended (won't be anything large or awkward, I promise!).

Sponsored by:
The Void
Chicago WIG
El Duke bicycle degreaser
Wald
Moyer Cycles
The Bird Machine
Cricket Press
Stella's Kentucky Deli
Al's Bar
...and more!

Another thing you might want to take note of: Scott Beckmeyer is organizing a pre-Alleycat costume parade loop through downtown, which will also start at Woodland Park at 7pm and end back at the park in time for the Halloween Alleycat registration. If you'd like to participate, show up with your bikes and costumes at the usual Critical Mass meeting point (corner of High St & Kentucky Ave.) for a quick downtown loop like we did last year. If you have any questions feel free to contact Scott at: sbeckmeyer(at)gmail(dot)com

would you recommend something like a fanney pack for carrying items or a larger bag?

a fanny would work great... especially if a regular bag would interfere with your costume.

you won't have to carry anything that wouldn't fit into a hip sack or fanny pack.

I don't see why not... the area where the afterparty is might not be as conducive for skids because the streets are kind rough and short, but I'm sure we can find a vacant lot nearby for something along those lines.

Thought I'd mention that tonight is the first UK mens basketball game of the season, so you'll get plenty of traffic down around Rupp. The game starts at 7, so by the time the race starts it shouldn't be too bad, but as people start leaving the game around 9 I'd start watching out. There'll probably be tons of cars from out of town that have never seen a bike on the street before, and with cops directing traffic people certainly won't be watching out for cyclists.

hands down one of the best races to date. The course was fun, the events were fun, the costumes were awesome, the large number of folks was astounding and the after party was good and sweet.

Great Job to Cricket Press for all their hard work!

Yeah - many thanks to Brian and Sara for a hell of an alleycat - plenty of tricks and treats. Top-notch costumes, festive stops and a great after party! This is a Halloween that will long be remembered.
