So I guess this weekend is really the apex of the month. Races today, tomorrow and sunday along with the ever great 10-mile family fun ride on Saturday.

Here is a sub par article from the HL
http://www.kentucky.com/779/story/406469.html

Don't forget to tailgate tonight on the corner of Lafayette and Eucild in the Bank parking lot.

A big thanks to all those who were involved in organizing things this weekend. The Friday night cookout was excellent and yesterday was quite a showing.

A friend in town rode in yesterday's family ride for the first time - after the ride they stated that Saturday was one of the top five days he has had in Lex since moving here from CO nearly 15 years ago.

I know we had a great time and looking around this weekend I would judge that everyone from the event organizers to the riders and racers to the firemen, bike medics and police all had quite a time of it this weekend.

Thanks again - I can't wait until next year's ride...

so i thought everyone would be proud to know that at the end of the family fun ride some riders in lycra decided to end with a sprint from midland avenue to the courthouse. So naturally I followed on my fixie and tied with one of the kids at the end for the win. Stupid geared bikes.=)

yeah, this weekend was awesome. it was really cool to see that many bikes and so many people familiar and unfamiliar with biking hanging out and watching the races. thanks to everyone who yelled for (or at) us uk guys in the races, i am sure my dead last performance in the crit and piss poor TT were inspiring. Very Happy

i guess thats what i get for spending more time drinking than training.

I stayed for the races along with a big crew of folks. The unfortunate is a lot of us were eating when the "funny bike" and "urban races" occurred so there was not fan base and little races.

TT was freaking amazing. Racers were telling Shane and I about how much they "enjoyed" our end of the street and wish they would have drank more beer with us and did less racing. I thought it was really a great thing for Lexington.

Saturday races, the fact that main, north MLK and north Lime were shutdown from about 8 am - 6 pm is amazing in and of itself. Jkizzle and the UK Cats represented... it was a really fast cat 4/5 race. When we said" Don't suck" it was meant with the truest intentions.... that we did not want you to suck :)

I skipped out on the Sunday races, I think I was dealing with a large bike hangover

yeah, most of the uk guys are new to racing, and do, in fact suck. we know it, but racing is fun, even if just for a lap or two haha.

the sunday races were probably the least fun of them all to watch, it was a sorta boring course and the earlier races didnt have many if any breakaways, not sure about the later races as i couldnt stay.

The almost frighteningly strong Tracy Huber Tolson did her victory lap on Saturday afternoon with beer in hand and toasted us as she went by.

I personally feel it was a good thing that there weren't more people around for the funny bikes race, especially given that in the Day 2 slideshow on the H-L photog site, the picture of me and Shane kind of looks like he's offering congratulations and support to his "Bike Buddy" at a Special Olympics event.
