We've been dreaming up some unique uses for the pedicabs, and would like to use the St. Patrick's parade/Tweed ride as a chance to put one or two ideas into motion. Since we have the capacity, we were hoping to make one of the cabs a mobile sound blaster, maybe play some Irish tunes during the parade/tweed ride or some old speak-easy music or maybe some gangsta rap for shits and giggles.

Where we need some help is acquiring most of the equipment to test some things out. The ideal equipment would be boat audio equipment for weather reasons, and if it rains 3/13 (60% chance currently) we'll scrap the idea unless we can confidently waterproof things. However I doubt anyone here has access to boat audio equipment.

Car audio equipment is the next idea, since it runs off our 12V batteries we use for our lights, BUT the batteries we have only have enough juice to last about an hour or less with decent speakers. With all the explanation out of the way, here's a list of things we'd like to acquire, we are willing to negotiate some form of compensation if you wish.

Plan 1: 12V battery with a high amp*hour output (we currently have 12Ahr, but need something >or=35Ahr to last a couple hours or more), car amplifier (DC power) with enough wattage to power speakers, speakers that don't exceed the amplifier's wattage output

Plan 2: 12V battery with a high amp*hour output (we currently have 12Ahr, but need something >or=35Ahr to last a couple hours or more), an inverter, an amplifer (AC power) with enough wattage to power speakers, & speakers that don't exceed the amplifier's wattage output

In the past we've turned Tim's cargo bike into a mobile sound system using a self-contained battery & inverter rig from Doo-wop on Southland. It has enough juice to run a full sized PA system for 3+ hours and was around $20-25 rental for the weekend.

The one we had was in a plastic case with wheels.

Volume is a function of the audio equipment...we ran a 200W PA with two 12" speaker cabinets for around two hours in the first Christmas parade we entered a few years ago and as far as I remember maybe drained the battery by half. It was plenty loud enough for the crowd to hear the punk carols we were playing.

The far outlet is the shit. We rented it and then used Logan's pa and bumped tunes both during the holiday parade and then bike lexington.

it is super simple and easy to use. Charge it up and go.

I would be down for hauling one of the cabs if you need a driver.

For "less loud" situations where you may not need as much power as the Far Outlet, could you simply use a power inverter hooked up to the car battery? That way you could plug in standard electrical devices.

I have a small one that came with different hook ups, including jumper-cable style clamps for use with a car battery.
