I shutter to even type the name above... I mean is that really the best they could do? Roller set me straight but just because it is Sept 11 why do we have to make everything patriotic. I mean I totally understand the freedom you get when riding a bike but a Freedom Benefit Concert! I get celebrating the "new local spirit" but this name makes me not even want to be there...and I am one patriotic son-of-a-bitch (Conway), see I even quote politico folks in my posts!

Here are the details via our very own Van Meter Pettit

Lexington's own PURE BLUE VODKA and the NEW BUSTER'S @ OLD TARR Distillery- 899 Manchester Street (behind Rupp Arena) are hosting a FREEDOM BENEFIT CONCERT on Friday night September 11. Music by "Cora Lee and the Townies" and "Fifth on the Floor".

Proceeds to benefit Town Branch Trail, Inc. Let's celebrate our nation's spirit, a new local spirit, and enjoy Lexington's next great live music venue. Details to follow!

I support this event and the cause I just think the same is lame.

It is just silly to me that it is named this.

Additional question is how much of the $10 door will Town Branch receive?

vodka is the beverage of the communist regime. if you drink vodka you are a socialist, therefore obama's children drink vodka.

logic, no?

Why not just donate $10 to the cause and let's have a cookout at Coolavin with beer, bourbon and bike polo? That's the 'Mericeen way.

Just an idea.

Town Branch Trail is receiving all of the door. Pure Blue Vodka is paying for the music.

It is a bad choice of terms to market the event. I suggested they turn the phrase into Free the Trail, as opposed to a 9/11 freedom concert. But hey, it's a fundraiser for a non-profit and a lot of folks add layers of ideas.

I would totally volunteer to make cookies if it would aid in rallying people to skip a "Freedom Concert" and ride their bikes (as long as we still raised moolah for the trail).

could call it the 'french' concert to bring awareness to our loss of vernacular to the 'freedom' fry and 'freedom' bread of the post 9/11 wacko days...
