Dress Up & Boogie Down oh so 80s Style

Updated September 9.

Featuring: March Madness Marching Band to kick off prom at 6pm during registration!

Bike Prom 2009! Get ready for a new dance downtown. Whether you bring a date, or ride stag, come to prom pretty in pink and flash your 80s style. All types of bikes and skill levels welcome.

Activities.
You will ride to selected destinations with a provided map and stamp your dance card at each location. You will asked to perform prom activities at each dance stop, such as be fitted with a supplied corsage, primp your hair, take your date out to dinner, toast from magic punch bowls (adult and child versions provided), select just the right tune, spin the bottle, take a whirl on the dance floor, and have your photograph made under an arch of pink balloons. After all that, you better be getting lucky!

History.
This is the 2nd annual Bike Prom. Last year the prom attracted nearly 100 bikers and raised close to $1000 for the Living Arts & Science Center. This year we have more challenges, more stops, more funky dance moves, and it's all still for a great cause. All proceeds benefit the Living Arts & Science Center.

Start Time and Place.
Saturday evening, September 12
Registration at 6:00 pm at The Living Arts & Science Center.
362 N. Martin Luther King Blvd. Map
Register at the start, or pre-register with a credit card by calling 859.252.5222.
The event is $5.00 and all proceeds benefit the Living Arts & Science Center. The event is open to the public.
Rain date: Sept. 26th

Prizes and Afterparty.
Think u got style? Then you could win one of the best-dressed categories in female, male, and couple, which is the coveted Prom King & Queen. The best dressed are determined by our panel of fashionistas. Think u got speed? Prizes for first place. The Afterparty will be held at Molly Brooke's Irish Bar with cheap beer and this year's prom drink special: the Rubik's Cube.

Sponsors.
Proudly sponsored by following local businesses: Pedal Power, The Morris Book Shop, Molly Brooke's Irish Bar, The Hive, Sidebar Grill, Third Street Stuff, Zag's Boutique, Soundbar, January, Bluegrass Sotheby's, and CD Central.

Yes...indeed it's smashing poster from Cricket Press!

I updated Boyd's original post with the event info. Actual posters should be hitting the streets today.

Sorry, I guess I was just confused by what you were referring to your post. I thought you meant, "Can't wait for the next Bike Prom", but perhaps I was mistaken...

The Bike Prom that was held last night was the 2nd Bike Prom organized in Lexington, so the next one to look forward to would be next year's, which would be the 3rd Bike Prom.

Now I see that you were likely talking about the next alleycat race, which is on October 2nd. Sorry for the confusion!
