I need to thank Jared for recovering my bike last night. I never thought I would get it back, so it was a welcome surprise. Dickwads took my basket and chain guard, but left on my motion alarm and all the other components were still original- and evidently used heavily. Perhaps this will teach me a lesson in using it (the alarm) at all times, not just when I'm sober. She's a little beat up, but back where she belongs. Thanks Tiff for keeping an eye out and blowing the whistle when you saw it the first time yesterday. I also want to thank the academy, my au pair, Juanita, and of course my pool boy Hugo. I never could have done this without you! This calls for a celebration! The toilet hugging kind....

you know, you can't post a message like that without giving us all details of the recovery.

Alex should know better as well! Entertain us, fools!

I think this would be where Jared tells his story of heroism.... or stumbling upon my long last baby. One of those two happened. All I know is she's back.

So last night after polo i went to Al's and drank until almost everyone was gone as i was leaving Hannah ask for me to walk her to Alex's. Being the fine gentleman i am, i did so. As we rounded the corner of fifth it was just sitting there locked to the stairway. I walked up and took one look and seeing that they had left the motion alarm on it, I knew without a doubt. so we got to Alex's he got a saw and we went back, cut through the kryptonite cable like butter. i just spent the morning doing a total overhaul of the thing. it is beat down bad. but still rolling and back home now.
two things to take away from this.
1. always be a gentleman, it will pay off.
2. never use a cable lock, how the bike was lost and recovered so easy.

Because you got my bike back, I will try to ignore the fact that you are so rarely a gentleman, instead reaping the rewards of this rare act! The fact that you are the one that found it in no way diminishes my joy in getting it back. It just pisses me off that you are so good...... Thanks jerk. I owe you a million

for everyone's reference, it took less than 30 seconds to cut through this lock with a dull-bladed hacksaw:

which means, if you have inly a cable lock, anyone with a hacksaw can have your bike in 30 secs

I'm sure people are sick of me bitching so much about cable locks on here, but it's the troof. Again, this vindicates the claim that cable locks are pretty useless.
