Please take a moment to read the following email and take action if you see if. I know this listserve is about bikes but this issue is more than just about a sidewalk! It is about the people in Lexington who have money once again getting to decide major decisions for the infrastructure for our town. It is about connectivity, mobility, accessability, health of the community, etc. If you look at the proposed site on Tates Creek there is already a cattle path where people run and have worn it down. If you have ever run here you will note how likely it is to roll an ankle and how easy it would be to have a sidewalk that could connect Chevy Chase to the arboretum and farther out Tates Creek.

Hit me up pm style if you want the petition

Cheers

Tim

Hello Sidewalk Supporters:

We need petition signatures! If you have not already, please print the attachment and make an extra effort this weekend to obtain signatures from your neighbors and friends. Take to your pool, baseball games, dance recitals, church, meetings, bar-b-ques, etc. Every Fayette County resident signature will help (especially those who live on or adjacent to Tates Creek).

Petitions need to be hand delivered, faxed or scanned & emailed to one of the following no later than noon on Wednesday, June 10:

Renee Jackson

Downtown Lex. Corp.

101 E. Vine, Suite 500

tel. 425-2591

fax 231-7333

renee@downtownlex.com

Yvette Hurt

311 Irvine Road

361-1052 tel.

yhurt@windstream.net

Also, please forward this email to other neighbors/friends who support sidewalks and ask them to help.

The second reading of the LFUCG ordinance will be Thursday, June 11 at 7 p.m., in the main council chamber, corner of Main and MLK. If you can attend and voice support for this measure, please do so.

Feel free to call me if you have any questions.

Thank you for your help on this important issue.

Regards,

Steve Stoltz

Read the comments this time Alex. People have really come out on this issue. Funny that they are trying to greenwash it. Hell if the council votes to not move forward due to these dubious claims then I hope they also no longer repair Tates Creek or any other roads in the corridor and let them become more "green."

i did read the comments! it's also funny that in their lawyer's statement (that's right, they hired lawyers) it says there are definitely no dirt footpaths, when you can clearly see in the above photo a dirt footpath!

you can also see the markers for underground utilities - implying that they may already be planning the excavation for the sidewalks? Just a guess...

they really should take that walk all the way up to the Enclave, near Cooper. Sidewalks need to go up to that point as well.

The city should just put the gravel down that goes under the sidewalks, thats permeable. Then when everyone bitches about the gravel all over the place, go ahead and pave them.

Yup, I'll be there. I can only stay for about 1 hour so we'll see how much happens.

I think selfpropelled is going to go also.
