Discovered it unlocked and abused on campus this morning. If you are missing a Giant Cypress, please PM me with a description and I will let you know if this is the one. I hope it is. |

Through the shop sticker and the serial number we have been able to reunite this bike with its owner. This sort of situation is the main benefit I see in the UK Bike Registration program. If the bike had not had a sticker from the shop that sold it, or if that shop did not maintain records based on serial numbers it would have been very difficult to find this person. Just a couple cents from me. |

That's two recoveries in two weeks that have benefited from having the registration sticker!
Many of the registration programs I've read about for various universities and cities seem to center around the idea that bike registration is used primarily as a theft deterrent / means of notification / recovery system. Seems like a good enough reason to me if you're going to have any at all.
Which is why it boggles the mind the way in which UK PTS went about unveiling and sporadically enforcing all those rules associated with their system. They communicated it as more of a privilege/punishment than as a service or simply a good idea.
But, we've hashed all this out before... no need to do it again. _________________ ------------[] O |
