I'm gonna tweed all day!
Starting with the shamrock shuffle in the a.m.
The parade and then the rest of the festivities...Oh yeah, it is also my birthday weekend, I'm a St. Pat's baby! |

Not into tweed? Perhaps you can follow Texas' lead and organize your own Denim Run here in Lex:

why stop there, though?
-Carhartt Caravan
-Sex Slave Vinyl Suit Crawl
-Corduroy Cruise
-Miami Vice Linen pants and sport blazer Parade
-Burlap / Feed Sack Floatilla _________________ ------------[] O |

I present to you in honor of the Tweed Run, one of my favorite moments from Deadwood:

My haberdasher does not deal in denim.

I thought this quote is perfect for the Tweed Ride and female tweeders...
"I think [the bicycle] has done more to emancipate women than anything else in the world," feminist pioneer Susan B. Anthony said in 1896. "It gives a woman a feeling of freedom and self-reliance. The moment she takes her seat she knows she can't get into harm unless she gets off her bicycle, and away she goes, the picture of free, untrammeled womanhood."
Also, this site has some purdy neat pics of sheet music from the late 19thC about bicycles: http://www.tubulocity.com/2010/01/1897_sheet_music_bicycle_a.html |

Sweet jesus, that pipe is too much. (Or perhaps I'm just not dedicated enough to dapper british fashion?) |

You could rock a pipe, Jessi. Just think of it like you would a Halloween costume. _________________ ------------[] O |

Parade!
Bring your freaky self, bike, and tweed attire. Tweed ride about town to follow parade.
Date: Saturday, March 13
Parade line-up: 12:30pm, on Midland Ave, the usual parade start.
Parade starts: 1:00pm and ends at the irish green lawn of CentrePit.
Other important notes: Beer will be sold in CentrePit from 11am-7pm.

Hold on... I think we should back up a bit to clarify:
The Tweed Ride is being held in conjunction with the St. Patrick's Day Parade, which Boyd posted all the info for in the post above. However, the actual Tweed Ride will be starting AFTER the city's St. Patrick's Day parade and will continue on from there, extending the bike festivities.
The thought behind this was to take advantage of the similar themes behind the whole "Irish" look with the wool and tweed and all that... but more importantly, to get more people involved with the bike entry in the parade. We'll all fit right in the parade with our Tweed Ride attire.
Robert Brandon has been the main brains behind this Tweed Ride, and we'll try to get together some more solid info together on the details at some point this weekend... but until then, be thinking about how you're going to rock the tweed on the 13th! _________________ ------------[] O |

I thought the parade was the start of the tweed ride? If you want the most people in the parade, then why not make it the start? |
