Fantley,
I'm pretty sure I have your bike! I'm currently remodeling the old Spaulding's bakery building on 6th and Limestone. Two days ago my employee and I spotted a black Trek mtn bike outside the liquor store across from our building and we commented on how new and nice the bike looked and we knew it was most likely stolen. The black guy riding it and buying cheap liquor could of purchased it, but we thought it quite unlikely. We didn't give it much thought until he approached us later trying to sell it. I asked him what he wanted for it and he said $50. I asked him where he got it and he said Pedal Power (even though it had a Schellers sticker), I asked him why he'd sell a nice bike for so cheap and he gave some drunk answer. Nonetheless, I told him I thought is was stolen and he kept saying it was not. Not wanting to see this guy ride off with an obviously stolen bike and most likely someone's Christmas present, I paid him $45 for it and and planned to return it to Schellers to find its rightful owner. I thought it was well worth $45 to the original owner to get his bike back. Last night I was at a dinner party and told the story to my biker friends and then they told another friend who just emailed me this link. Man, I hope it's your bike - most likely it is. I hate thieves. This all stems from having my bicycle stolen once and never finding it. The bike is at the building, I should be around, call me 859-494-1883.
Cheers, Chad

Let us know how this pans out, guys... we love being able to note that certain bikes have been found and returned to their owners.

i just picked up my bike, and i could not be happier! i had given up hope and stopped checking this board before chad posted his comment. a friend of mine had to tell me to go back and check the forum last night. the bike was a family gift, so it really means a lot to me to get it back--in perfect condition no less. huge props to chad looking out. if not for this forum, i would have never gotten my trek back. now im really motivated to get out there and ride! hope to see you guys on the hills!

lesson learned: i now keep my bike in my bedroom. and i will never leave it unguarded.
