2nd Sunday is expanding from a one time per year event
to a once a month event!

The Details

On the 2nd Sunday of every month, bikers will meet in front of the Old Courthouse at 11 a.m. Police will escort bikers on city streets to a different trail and/or park destination each month.

The existing 2nd Sunday downtown event (10/11/09) will continue as an annual event, but will evolve to become “The 2nd Sunday Festival” ….. an annual celebration of all bike and health initiatives taking place in Lexington and throughout the state.

The Benefits

Increased visibility for biking in our community. Showcase new cycling infrastructure, new trails and new bike lanes, being built in our parks and roads. Showcase planned cycling infrastructure projects.

How Long Are the Rides?

Route, distance and speed are moderate enough for bikers of all ability levels to enjoy. Rides will be 10-12 miles, and duration will be two hours from start to finish.

Is There a Minimum Age Requirement?

Due to the fact that riders will be sharing open roads with cars, we request a minimum age of 12 years old, unless riding on a tandem bike with a parent.

How Much Does This Cost?

The rides will cost you nothing. It is absolutely free, thanks to the generosity of our sponsors.

Our Sponsors

* Phil & Marnie Holoubek
* Legacy Center
* Pedal the Planet
* Downtown Lexington Corporation
* YMCA

If you or your business would like to sponsor a ride, please contact Phil Holoubek at: cbadgolf@aol.com

When Is the First Ride?

The first ride begins at 11 a.m. on November 8th, in front of the Old Courthouse. We will ride to the Beaumont bike trails and back. Future rides will be the 2nd Sunday of every month. Same time. Same starting location.

They'd better be in cars, because goodness knows its not safe to ride a bike on the street without a police escort.
