|
|
Once again, Lexington Bike Polo will be a part of Second Sunday!
Second Sunday runs from 2pm - 6pm this Sunday, and our bike polo court will be set up on Main St. between Deweese and Elm Tree. See map below
Everyone is welcome to come play or watch. The plan is to play the full 4 hours of Second Sunday, and then we can take the games back over to Coolavin at 6pm and continue playing there. All players who participate in the polo games at Second Sunday will be required to sign a waiver, which I will have available on-site. Helmets are encouraged.
A one-mile loop of streets will be closed for the Second Sunday event, including parts of Main Street, Short Street, Mill Street and Deweese Street. There will be activities and demonstrations along the loop as well as exhibits and music at the new courthouse plaza and Cheapside Park. For more information visit:

Big thanks to Henry and Turner for getting the pads. My lame ass played a few games but did not help to set up or take down... I owe you two a beer.

From what I've read, it sounds like the monthly second sundays will be more of a police-escorted ride along a set route, and not a designated car-free zone like we've had in the past.
Still, those padded roller hockey barriers have deteriorated exponentially since the last time we used them (which was only this past May), and I seriously doubt they'll hold up to much more lugging around. The roller hockey folks definitely did not take care of them at all, which is a shame.
I've enjoyed doing the polo thing on the street, but I don't think it would be practical for us to do on a monthly basis, even if we had nice equipment to work with. _________________ ------------[] O |
