My Navy Trek Y3 was stolen from outside my apt. building on S. Broadway Saturday night.

It has a scrape of paint taken off on the right side of the frame about the size of a dime (maybe smaller), a half ripped off circular light blue sticker on the left side of the frame and the front valve stem has the converter for American air pumps (im not sure what you call that). Also has road tire with tread on the outside and a Fox rear suspension. Has a Trek, clear water bottle that has a broken top attached in the drink holder.

I am going to try and contact the store that I bought the bike from and try and get the serial number.

Any help would mean a great deal to me!

Here is a stock photo, mine has the off road handle bars, not the ones in the photo.

Did you file a police report? If not, then you should. They're going to ask you if you have the serial number - out it in the report. That way, if by some chance you, the police, or someone else finds your bike there is a serial number tied to the original report and you can claim your bike back. Otherwise, there's no real grounds for you to stand on that it's your bike.

I've seen someone ALMOST not get their bike back from the police because they never filed a report. The bike was spotted, cops were called, and they retrieved the bike, but were pissed when they found out that a report was never made. They could've given the bike back to the thief and let him go right there. Luckily, the owner of the bike had the serial number on them for proof of ownership.

How long do I have to file a report?
