I just posted this to the Bluegrass Cycling Club's message boards and thought some of y'all might interested as well:
---
Every USA Cycling club is required to put on at least one event per season. I'm happy to announce that our club, together with the University of Kentucky Cycling Team, will be promoting the first ever Fort Boonesborough Criterium, presented by Kentucky State Parks.
This one day event will be held at the park's campground on Saturday, March 15th. It is part of the Kentuckiana Spring Training Series and the Lance Armstrong Junior Olympic Race Series.
The course is a flat, fast, technical loop on smooth, 16' wide campground roads. Park rangers will provide event security and parking direction and the Madison County Rescue Squad will have a team onsite throughout our event. All the amenities of a modern campground, including a recently renovated, heated bathhouse with showers and a recreation hall for registration and other purposes, will be available to racers and spectators.
We've arranged for 2wheelsports.com, out of Louisville, to provide professional onsite registration, and online registration will soon be open at racelistings.com. As a training race, payouts in the categories with cash prizes will likely be relatively low, but we are committed to gender equity in terms of awards in the Mens 1/2/3 and Womens races.
The UK cyclists and the BCC's Racing Committee will soon be soliciting volunteers to help on the day of the race, cash and merchandise donations for prizes, event materials like straw bales, and most of all, your ideas!
What will make this a fun, family-friendly, safe event that you want to participate in, volunteer for, or just watch? _________________ http://www.lexingtonbikeracecalendar.com |

Hopefully this will be sweet. I know the MWCCC has an open week that week for the collegiate schedule, so maybe this could be included for the collegiate kids? It would bring a lot of young talent for sure. I guess that is up to Mitchell though. |
