My Peugeot was stolen from house on Mentelle Park. PLEASE be on the look out! It is a mid 80s road bike. Brown with orange and white stipes, Reynolds 531 frame, white grip tape, continental tires. I believe it is a Tour-de-France model. If you spot it please call CHRIS at 619-0764.

thanks,
abbye and chris

abbye, sorry to hear about that.

do you have any photos of the bike that you can add here to help folks identify it if they see it?

bike thieves have a tendency to try to cover up what they have stolen, especially if they plan on riding it... including spray paint jobs - as shitty and discouraging as that sounds. So, pay particular attention to the other characteristics mentioned; white handlebar tape, the tires, black saddle, etc.

it's a ten speed- it also has mavic rims- if that helps. the saddle has red lettering on it as well and it has 2 water bottle cages, the support hardware for the pump is on the upper tube of the frame.

did you file a police report?

this is helpful in the event that you see it somewhere and want to take action, or if a conflict ensues. Just ask Scott Beckmeyer...

You'll at least have some ground to stand on if there's record of a police report being filed.

I was driving down Euclid today (12/13) at 3:30pm and spotted a guy (appeared to be a student) waiting at the Lextran stop just before you get to the corner of Woodland and Euclid heading away from campus. the guy had a Peugeot with him that caught my eye... it was brown with the orange stripes, had white bar tape, and a black saddle. The bike was smallish - maybe anywhere from a 52cm - 56cm. I turned around trying to think of how I could get a better look at the bike (especially to see if it had Mavic wheels), but by the time I got back down to him, the bus had pulled up and he was loading it onto the front rack of the bus.

The guy was wearing a coat that looked sort of camoflaged, like those tree bark hunting jackets, and he had really short light brown hair. I might ride by there at the same time tomorrow to see if he catches the bus there again, but considering that this is finals week, and if he is a student, I kinda doubt he will be there.

I realize that there are a lot of Peugeots out there that fit this description, but when I saw this one, something in my head told me to try to check it out further... I'm sorry I didn't get a better look.
