I actually got a little too prepared and had to ride slow to avoid sweating. My number one arctic tip is to put a set of hot hands on top of your toes. I bought a case of them this year and it has been one of the best winter commuting investments ever. See yall for the frozen chosen ride tonight!

I can't wait for the ride tonight!

Arctic Polo last night was a blast, and even after everyone left, 4 of us stayed and played a 2-on-2 game that went on FOREVER.

I'm getting ready to head out to a meeting in a few minutes, so I'm looking forward to the chilly morning ride.

I'm getting ready to get wrapped up and head in to the office. Searching for a face mask now that the beard is gone.

Another tip is to put cotton balls in your ears, even if you have a hat or ear muffs. This keeps that cold nasty air from circulating on your ear drum.

I stick microwave taquitos in my nostrils to keep that nasty cold out.

Piping hot pizza rolls will also keep the inside of your mouth from getting too cold.

Oh, I thought you said you put those in your butt...glad I did not listen!

Ride in went well. Everything was toasty except my fingers...see the post about the Wombat gloves.

Did not even break out the down coat for this a.m. I sure will tonight though

My main problem with the really cold weather commute seems to be the amount I sweat when I get to work. I feel like I am going to puke for the first half hour because my fingers and toes are freezing and the rest of me is hot. Body does not enjoy the contrast.

that happens to me occasionally. so now i get to work about 30 minutes before i actually have to be there and hang out in a bath room stall while i change clothes and cool down. after 30 minutes of that i'm normally good to go.

Yep, inside the shoes. I put mine in over my socks on top of my toes. Some company makes special foot ones that have an adhesive patch so they will stick to the insole of your shoes. This technique keeps my boots warm and toasty all day long Very Happy

Not as cold this morning, but fun in the icy ruts. Drifting with both wheels while trying to go in a straight line is a good way to wake up.

I just had to walk 3/4 of the way home, holding myself up by pushing the bike against the curb. It has gotten much worse in the last three hours.

There were times I was walking on grass and could barely stomp my heels through the ice.

Winchester road and Midland ave had enough traffic to keep them clear, but all the smaller roads were mostly solid ice.

I rode this morning but tried to ride to school around noon and I couldn't get down my street. I was a shitty walk to campus only to have them send employees home at 3:30. Spent as much time walking as I did working
