I'd like one of these please.

Yes, it has exactly the same front and rear hub brakes as my steamrollercoaster.

I don't know why, but those have always fascinated me.
I've played around with doing that with an Indy 3
and one of those sketchy eBay kits.

I hate that there's nothing in between the crappy ebay kits and hand made $3.5k Derringers. And I think those still have the motor drive side cog connected to the spokes rather than bolted to the hub. Sketchy indeed.

On the Derringer the large cog on the left side of the rear wheel is between the coaster brake arm and the hub flange. Then it looks like there's essentially a big washer between the two hub flanges. The washer thing is connected to the cog with 8 bolts that pass between the spokes. That's how they hold the cog in place so the motor can drive the rear wheel.

You can see other side better here:

There are others where the spokes are just threaded through slots in the left side cog.

You can't use a flip flop hub because that would mean using a rear hand brake, and they've already got the clutch and front brake on the bars.

The other options are using an automatic clutch or investing in the tooling to make coaster brake shells that could take a left side 30+ tooth fixed cog. They've chosen to do neither of those things.

For a much more elegant means of propulsion, I give you the 1914 Aerothrust:

Did some more research on the one I posted at the top. They've got about $800 in the parts, plus paint and assembly. No custom made parts. Retails for $3,500.

I don't want one now.
