This event is only 10 days away. If you are planning on attending swing by CD Central and pick up a ticket ASAP - pre-sales will really help cover some of the upfront cost.

Hope to see a bunch of you there...

I hope you are ready for some more whispers tomorrow morning. Neil Pederson will be on Trivia Thursday to talk about the show. In case you miss it.....

This insect is devastating the hemlock trees in the eastern United States. It is the worst disaster to hit our forests since the chestnut blight. I'm going to attempt posting a picture of the Smokey Mountains so you can see what devastation looks like. This photo was taken in the middle of summer. In just 6 years, they have lost 95% of their hemlock trees.

Please come support this effort. Kentucky now has one of the only remaining healthy eastern hemlock populations in the world. Our state became infested in 2006, so we don't have a lot of time. Not only do we want to save our trees, we want to preserve a population that may one day be able to regenerate the natural range.

In non-nerd language.....saving these trees is the right thing to do.

Greg is the driving force behind this amazing fucking event. Thank you to him and everyone else who has been involved.

Alice

Alice is right.

This event is a chance to show that you care about you state and about the environment. So don't just go sit on some bar stool and get wasted tonight come to this event see some amazing art, hear some amazing music and make a difference.

the real issue is: can we get wasted whilst seeing some amazing art, hearing some amazing music and making a difference?

I'll be there regardless.

THANK YOU to everyone who came out last night. The show of support blew us away. The art was amazing and the bands were unreal. Englishman and The Swells' sets were beautiful and the Bonnie Price performed a wonderful set with The Picket Line.

This event could have never happened without the countless volunteers both those that setup Old Tarr and those that worked last night. The sponsors were also instrumental in making last night possible.

So the battle against the adelgid has begun - please stay involved with the project in any way you can. www.kyhemlocks.org will soon have information on different ways you can help.

Events like this really make me proud to call Kentucky home!

...I found this shot this morning on flicker...
