So, we will most definitely be needing checkpoint workers for the race. Without volunteers, this race cannot happen. If you've never volunteered to work before or don't necessarily want to do the race, please consider volunteering for a checkpoint. Once again, we cannot do it without you. Thanks so much to turner and everyone else for your support and enthusiasm about the race. It's a gonna be terror-ific!! _________________ pterodactyl bike gang for life! |

Ok...so I'm sure everybody is worried about what to wear. One thing you should consider is weather, especially on a bike, in costume, and at night. So I asked the weatherman to predict Lexington's Halloween weather based on historic observations: here's a link to a year-by-year summary.
Below are some records and only represent a possibility. The forecast is calling for clear and 62.
Snowiest: 0.1” in 1954
Deepest Snow Cover: There has never been a snow cover reported on October 31 at Lexington
Wettest: 1.77” in 1942
Warmest Temperature: 82 in 1950 and 1935
Warmest Daily Average Temperature: 70.5 in 1900
Coldest Temperature: 22 in 1887
Coldest Daily Average Temperature: 33 in 1954 |

We are all set on checkpoint workers. Thanks for the overwhelming response from you guys. Just proves what a great group of people we got in Lexington.
With your help, this race should be a huge success.
I'll put out another post a little closer to the date to help clarify the setup and premise of the race. Keep your ears and eyes open. You'll need all your senses!! _________________ pterodactyl bike gang for life! |

jkizzle,
the race can be as long or as short as you make it. this race will be different as it will be based primarily on luck instead of speed as well as making the right decisions. Anyone can win!!
I don't know specifically why your doctor is concerned, but if you feel up for it, it's going to be a beautiful night and I gaurentee you'll have fun. Were looking at 15-20 miles average for someone who finishes.
Just to clarify for everyone, so you're not confused at the registration, this will be a "choose your own adventure" race. If you remember all the books from the 90's that gave you multiple options of which page to turn to, either ending in your demise or in your saving the princess, the premise of this race is the same, except zombified!!
I'll give out all the specifics tomorrow night. Hope to see you all there!!
Taylor,
I'm headed to the Halloween store tomorrow morning if you want to join me. _________________ pterodactyl bike gang for life! |
