you, uh, get on your bike and ride around in a circle and if you are in front of everyone else after a few laps you win a prize
or....
you stand there and drink "refreshments" and eat smores and watch people ride around as fast as they can on the twisty-turny course without running into something industrial
then you go to al's bar and listen to music
we'll keep updating you as the details emerge |

I'm sure the organizers behind it could explain it better, but my understanding is this:
Take a huge-ass distillery warehouse complex with several large bay doors that open to the lots surrounding it. a course will be marked out; twisting and turning throughout the building and out into the lots beside it - so a race course that is part indoors, part outdoors.
You race several laps around it and the first to finish wins. |

yeah that's pretty much the ticket - meanwhile everyone gets to party inside the warehouse where it's warm, and drink hot drinks [&cold], eat smores, heckle those racing, etc.
imagine a big warehouse party with bikes racing through the middle of it.
last year we did roller races, which were similar in that it was inside & in one place. this is a little different - there'll be more than 2 racers at a time and the course goes inside & outside. The races will be similar to the races after bike lexington this year, except more fun. |

so if you suck like I do you have to stand in the middle and get drunk or will there be opportunities for those who don't finish in the top 5 of every race to participate? Glad to see you have space bar abilities once again Alex _________________ Albert Einstein trembled when he found out time was water. Seeping through the rafters to put out this burning world. |

everyone is cold at Beaux Arts because they're all practically naked.
it was pretty damn comfy at the Vampire Weekend show the other night... of course, I think that was because of the "jet engine" they had set up in the room, blasting heat at everyone! |

We will have the jet engine hooked up (60,000 btu's, which is alot). There will, of course, be the hobo barrels, and the heat generated from riding through the course.
We hope to have racing that will interest everyone. There will be the full-on race series. There will also be cruiser races. I am excited to race my xtracycle in the tandem race (I am taking volunteers for a passenger). The funny bike category should be cool. What other categories do you want to see?
The races will be timed. Racers will ride through the course for a specific amount of time that will vary from race to race. Generally, they will range from 10-25 minutes. Field size will be determined by us. Probably, there will be no more than 10-12 racing at a time. The course will be very fun to ride and watch.

Logan, Tim, and I are attempting to throw some crazy bikes together before then. So we should have at least 3 or 4 mini (kids and bmx) sized bikes ready to be raced by normal sized people.
I also plan to bring some knee-pads. Anyone have access to lots and lots of bubble wrap? |
