i just started teaching at Lafayette high school and it made me super happy this morning to ride up on my bike to find the bike rack completely full. it made me even happier when i overheard the principal talking about having to get more bike racks to accomodate all the bikes.

that is great news. I kinda wondered if kids rode their bikes to school. I never did, in fact I am sure we would have been mean as hell to the kid that did. (I was a jerk).

I pass a lot of kids on Rosemount on their way to and from Lafyette.

You should try and see if you could get more kids interested... not a bike commuter club but maybe see if you guys could get a race team together or something... dunno

...also, if that many kids are commuting to school, you should work with the faculty to establish some sort of Commuting / Bike Safety workshop.

Never too early or late to start, y'know. Could save some kid's life.

i am going to head up the environmental club (i was the kid in high school picking up trash while jerks mocked me.) cycling would easily tie into this. if there are any classes available, please let me know.

you could probably talk with Mike Galbraith about a workshop. I believe he's experienced at teaching road cycling and commuter safety workshops...

one of us (Tim, Shane, Brad or myself) could put you in contact with him if you were interested.
