The 1st annual Bicycle and Motorcycle Poker Run will be held on Sunday, June 15th, and will begin at Mary Todd Lincoln House, Downtown Lexington. The event will start at 5:00 PM with registration opening at 4:15 PM. On-site registration cost is $5 and poker sheets are $5 per hand. You may have as many hands as you wish.

The Poker Run is two events in one, using bicycles and motorcycles in a six-mile course through Downtown Lexington’s attractions. This is not a race to see who finishes first. Those participating will choose a playing card from a deck of cards at each of five checkpoints along the trail. Upon finishing the event, each participant will have assembled a full poker hand.

Stops include: Mary Todd Lincoln House, Artek Lofts, McConnell Springs, Alltech Brewery, Lorillard Lofts, and Al’s Bar. The top three poker hands for each event will receive a special prize package. In addition, at the conclusion of the event, there will be door prizes giveaway. The final stop is Al’s Bar at Sixth and Limestone which has good food, great music, and lousy service. The Swells are playing at 9 PM. Spread the word!!!

Our local chapter for Make-A-Wish Foundation will receive 100% of the proceeds. This non-profit’s mission statement is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions and to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. It is co-sponsored by the following local businesses and organizations:

Alltech Brewery
John’s Run Walk Shop
Bluegrass Beemers
Al’s Bar (6th & Lime)
Lowell’s Toyota
Schellers
Third Street Stuff
Chick-fil-A
Lexmark International, Inc.
McConnell Springs

This event cries out for participation on mopeds.

What do you say, Bryant, you down?

How 'bout on horseback? Time to pull out the 'ol chaps, dusty cowboy hat, floral print bandanna, and practice my gun work and quick draws.

Sounds like great event with a swell after party at Al's. It's father's day so hopefully folks will bring out the old man for this wild western affair.

Sure, horseback is fine, pard'ner! Segways welcome too. Lots more sponsors with some generous donations. Roscoe, Dan D., and Shane, thanks ahead of time for your help spreading the word, it's much appreciated!

This sounds like fun... but how will this affect polo?! We might just have to play early in the heat that Sunday?

We have over $850 in prizes from generous local sponsors. Please come in any mode of transportation you desire and can withstand five miles. Be at the Mary Todd Lincoln House between 4:15 and 5 PM Sunday. We should be all at Al's Bar by 6:15 PM. Shane let us borrow his Bicycle Blender, so we'll have fruit smoothies at Scheller's/Firehouse on Woodland. Hope to see you there! This is a family firendly event, but who know's what debauchery will happen later at Al's.

The poker ride was a darn fun time.

My three aces won me a printer/scanner, which made it home wedged and bungied between my dad and his sissy bar just fine.

That was friggin' hilarious to watch you drive off with that printeron your motorcycle. We were hoping you would take that printer because the other two winners (2nd and 3rd place) either worked or had connections to Lexmark.

Thanks for your participation in making the Poker Run possible. Thanks to the volunteers for making it happen. 100% of the proceeds will go to Make-A-Wish Foundaion to our local chapter. We had a great time in the evening listening and dancing to The Swells. Thanks to Shane for letting us borrow his bike blender to make fruit smoothies- they sure hit the spot on a sunny day.

Maybe we can do another one soon?!!!
