not that they need much promotion, because they're a reputable shop, but in case you are on the fence...

Anyways, I am hoping you might be able to help me with this goofy
quest I've set out on. Here's the story: Keith Shelburne works as an
auto mechanic at Lowell's Toyota/Lexus
(www.chooselowells.com<http://www.chooselowells.com>) in Lexington.
Recently he has convinced the shop to purchase 2 mountain bikes,
helmets, and bike locks with the purpose of making them available to
customers who are waiting for their car repairs. He says, "Any
waiting customer that would like can take advantage of the use of one
of the bikes. To go shopping, go home, go to work, eat, or just take
a nice enjoyable ride while their car is being serviced. Something
new to try. I got the idea when i saw a customer drop off his car
then take his bike off and away he went." I think this is a GREAT
idea that promotes bicycling and is a truly innovative way that a
company--a car repair shop nonetheless--can support the green
movement and reach out to the community. So, in an effort to get this
idea some recognition and perhaps some publicity, I decided to look
to an environmental group in his area, which led me to UK, then
"Green Thumb." Do you have any ideas of how to give this some local
press? Or could you offer any other local environmental groups that
might be interested in this service? Thank you so much for your time
and help, I appreciate it so much!
David Strong

P.S. Keith Shelburne happens to be my uncle!

here's a link posted a short while back by Niles, (also a former? current?) member of UK Green Thumb: http://www.chooselowells.com/news/spring08.htm

there are several UK Green Thumb-ers here on the forums... I'm sure someone can find an answer for you, or at least find someone who can help.

BTW, I'm going to move this thread over to the Local Bike Advocacy forum, where the other thread about Lowell's Toyota offering up bikes to customers is.[/url]
