watch out for the turns on and off of central avenue, especially at woodland and central. the corners are covered in inches of gravel and sand. saw a motorcycle go down today on the crap.

I noticed that on the day of Bike Lexington... while coming home from the races. Any idea why all that shit is there?

It's like, randomly strewn about at the intersections...

no clue, i live next to common grounds, and its sorta always been real gravelly down through there. there are a number of bumps in the road in the area that i wonder might cause the street sweepers to leave a build up there maybe?

Don't know if anyone even bikes this way, but from Euclid to Alumni on Tates Creek Road there's a lot of pea gravel, nuts and bolts strewn about.

Pretty much biking on Avenue of the Champions is an adventure in itself. Besides the crap in front of Papa John's, there are many other problem spots developing. S. Limestone in front of UK isn't faring much better, and it has a nice assortment of loose gravel and holes to worry about...

I've said it before, but IMO Avenue of Champions / Euclid Ave is perhaps the most dangerous stretch for cyclists within the downtown/UK area, despite the fact that it also the one with the most generous bike lanes (which may be one of the main factors to the cause).

I feel like I'm playing "Frogger" with my bike when I'm riding on Euclid. First, I must get past the traffic entering/exiting Kroger, then swerve to miss the Speedway customers, which puts me in place to dart around the delivery trucks and LExtran buses stopped in the bike lanes (whoah, look out for broken beer bottle glass mixed with shattered headlight at the Woodland intersection!)... then it's on to the area of sorority girls who pull out of side streets without looking both ways because they are texting... then once I maneuver around the cars that are using the bike lane as a turn lane at the Intersection of Rose, I have to dodge the moon craters in front of Papa John's... then, just when I can see my end point up ahead, I have to brake suddenly for someone speeding up and turning short in front of me onto Lexington, or MLK... and I almost get doored by the foreign student who has stopped to unload their car in the turning lane outside of Jewell Hall.

Good thing my "lily pad" (aka Pazzo's) has a great selection of beers to choose from!

well, I think I have found the culprit of the "mysterious piles of gravel" on certain streets....

today, while I was ponying a bike over to Pedal Power, I saw a strange LFUCG roadworks truck that I had never seen before. It had "The Patcher" painted on the side of one of its tanks, and there was a snout-like attachment on the front that was actually spraying a mixture of fine gravel. I guess this somehow precludes the actual asphalt patch?

The whole way back my tires kept throwing the gravel mixture all up in my face and on my back. Hopefully the street sweepers will be out this week.
