Mark your calendars!

Sunday, May 11th
Coolavin Park - Lexington, Ky
12 pm

As part of Lexington's annual Bike Month festivities, we're pleased to announce Lexington's first ever Bike Polo Invitational. All cities who are willing to make the drive to Ky are welcome (we realize this is the weekend after the Midwest Champeenships, but you can't complain about two back-to-back weekends of polo, huh?).

Meet-and-greet events will be held the evening before, on Saturday, 10th for those who may be traveling from out of town and wish to arrive early.

Although we're playing hard court, we're recommending fat tires, since there are some rather wide cracks that may catch skinny tires. We're working to get the surface repaved before then, but just to be safe...

Hey, let me know if you need any organizational help or anything. I'm right around the corner from the park, more or less.

For that matter, if you guys want to store that gear bag in my crawl space where you can swing by and get it on the days you play that's cool, too, though of course I think Chris and Tiff live even closer to Coolavin than us, and there are a bunch of other people right around here too.

ok... well, as we all can guess, the weather is looking pretty crappy for tomorrow. We may get some breaks, but then again... it could rain all day. It's hard to tell at this point.

So here's what we're going to do... Tiffany has graciously offered up her covered backyard carport (just a block or so away from the polo courts) as a hangout / staging area where we can cook out and relax and guage the flow of the weather. When it's not raining, we'll pedal over and get some playing in and when it is raining, we'll just pedal back and hang out between breaks.

I'll check back in here later tonight with a confirmed time, since we may move it up an hour or so... so keep checking here for the scoop. Most likely it will be around 1-ish in the afternoon.

Polo is on!

Meet between noon & 1pm at 613 Price Ave. - just off Sixth St. before you get to Coolavin Park (we'll be around back under the carport). Grilling up meats & meatless goodies, and we'll take the opportunity to play when we can between rains.

Well, despite some of the worst weather we've seen all year so far, the bike polo event soldiered on as die-hard as it could have.

Dayton brought a solid crew of 5 or 6 folks, and Cincinnati brought a couple of regular out-of-town familiar faces as well. Lexington showed up strong with most of our regular players attending.

We played some very wet and windy pick-up games for several hours before calling it a day. Just goes to show you that even shitty weather can't stop the amount of fun you can have when you get people together on bikes.

HUGE THANK YOU's to Tiffany for saving the day and graciously offering us all a sheltered place to hang out and cook up a big feast of grilled meats and sides. That was tremendous help. Thanks also to Chris, Tori, Henry, Tim and Jakub for bringing food and beer and helping man the grill for all the hungry mouths.
