tonight lexington hit a really low point for me...
there is only two reasons why you would EVER see me pushing my bike
1. to drunk to ride my bike (which happens more times then i want to admit)
2. flat tire(s)
I would like to take a min. to harp on the later of the two reasons real quick like...tonight as i pushed my bike home after i suffered a blowout on my whip a group of our prized lex. bike scenester's pasted by me yelling things like: "your supposed to ride that bike"--no shit and "you look like a fag" wow your really in touch with the pc world we live in... first off i would like to say yes i am calling you out but i am not going to name names...but i am going to say something in a public forum so these stupid outrages don't persist b/c i would like to believe that there are people out there that want to encourage biking and not squander it...this is just uncalled for and you wonder why i don't come out to your biking events...did you even stop to see if there was anything you could do...no...you just kept riding in lue of that prized pbr...i mean come on there are just some times when you should not patronise people... making fun of a biker with a flat is like kicking lance in the nut...perhaps you should take a min. to yourself and wonder if there was a reason for that bike to be pushed...or better yet stop and see if you can help i mean it is bike month and all... _________________ "if it ain't broke don't fix it" |

Man, sucks to hear that.
One of my favorite phrases in the standard patois of road cyclists is what I always hear when I'm fixing a flat or have stopped to help out somebody else: "Do you have what you need?" _________________ http://www.lexingtonbikeracecalendar.com |

recognize and respect.
sucks that not everyone thinks about their words and actions. Hopefully the next time you see whoever it was that yelled at you, they'll be decent enough to apologize. |

on the other hand, sometimes you have to be big enough to laugh at yourself
we all know how aggravating it can be to be yelled at while biking, but maybe it's not such a huge deal?
disclaimer: i had nothing to do with any of this _________________ How about, "Can you NOT rip a giant hole in our downtown and erect a big goddamn penis full of crappy chain businesses?"

I hear your grief. Anybody who really uses a bike has been in your shoes. If you think this is the way the core of Lexington cyclists behave, you are mistaken. Keep your chin up and stop whinning. |

If the comments were coming at me from people I know, and who know me, I'd probably just laugh and maybe shout a few insults back, jokingly... yet, it would still be nice if someone stopped just to at least chat with me and like Christopher said , make sure I "had everything I needed" if it was apparent that something was wrong with my bike.
but, coming from people I don't hang out with on a regular basis, especially if I recognized them as people who are visible in the bike community, hell yeah I'd be a bit pissed. That's just my take on it... then again, I'm used to getting dumbass things yelled at me by people NOT on bikes. |

yea i get that i am not the first person to push a bike home due to a flat...I am not going to sit here and defend my comments b/c what was said was said...but...i will say that these comments were made in a not so funny hold your chin up kindof way...i mean i get yelled at by people/bikers all the time it generally doesn't effect me either way...but hey maybe i just take myself waaay to seriously and was really pissed b/c i was expecting my roadside assistance van to pull up and drop another bike in my hands and tell me to keep up the pace i am only 3 min. behind the peloton...or maybe i just like to stir things up a bit _________________ "if it ain't broke don't fix it" |

they are probably new to our community and do not realize that we are also a family. Being new they were probably riding brakeless and with platform pedals(no straps) and just couldnt stop in time.Idiots! People yell at me all the time but I dont care because I know I look sexy _________________ The sound of a car door opening in front of you is similar to the sound of a gun being cocked. ~Amy Webster |

cyclists everywhere will forever curse that man for giving drunken douchebags something that they can always yell at someone on a bike. |

Damn him and his easy to pronounce last name.
Nobody has ever yelled it at me. I've actually had three different carloads of girls hoot at me in the last few months. I choose to believe they weren't being cruel and ironic.
