ok, pat the welder [right?] wins much respect for decoding not only logan, but whose bike logan was riding on.
logan gets one for spotting chris simpson's ghettospoke
matt burton is WRONG about tall george in the lead {but i'll give him anyway, maybe}
so there's two more posters up for grabs!!! _________________ How about, "Can you NOT rip a giant hole in our downtown and erect a big goddamn penis full of crappy chain businesses?"

Pasting me on a different bike is dirty pool.
I thought that dashing, befezzed character was me, but I don't have a cruiser with rear fender stays.
Besides, I'd never ride anything Bryant has had his leg over. |

Yup I am on that committee and we decided to call it a "fun race" in order to continue to promote our events as a part of bike month. Jkizzle as you well know it is very difficult in the bike community to put on events that are not "sanctioned" and include "insurance".
This has been a sticking point with getting various folks to attend lexrides events because we are not "legit." In order to promote the two alley cat events and to not raise too many eyebrows we decided to call them "fun races" and note that they are open road courses with cars.
We want any and all types of bike riders to attend all bike lex and lexrides events. For the sake of being inclusive and to not draw too much on the negative stereotypes of alley cat races (recent Chicago race) we decided to change the name.
Introduce yourself to me at the Oaks Day Alley Cat, I will be the bearded guy taking your money at the start! I will be having fun at the race, will you? |

[aimless rant warning]
it is very frustrating and somewhat sad that there is always a contingent of cyclists out there who can't seem to see past things like sanctioned racing, groups that you have to pay to be a part of, keeping mileage stats, etc. If they could just enjoy the freedom and simple pleasure of riding bikes and the power that they have for bringing people together and promoting different ways of thinking...
this is the whole reason Lexrides.com and this community exists, because nobody else was encouraging people to participate in bike events and activities that stress the fun, social, and communal aspects of cycling culture. There's good reason why the folks who put together Bike Lexington are taking notice and want us to get involved with the events this year because if all they had were bike shops and (no offense) the BCC, they wouldn't have much on the calendar except a handful of exclusive races that are frankly quite boring to watch and make people feel further detached from the fact that they too can hop on a bike and have fun without suiting up in a full kit and racing their asses off. |
