Whether or not you believe him, Rosenberg is now telling people that he has no plans to sell/demo/redevelop that block in the near future.

I am highly suspicious of anything anybody says or does concerning the future of downtown, whether for good or ill. All I can somewhat trust in is what has happened in the past year and how those things seem to line up in a series of events that suggest that something dramatic is going to happen very soon.

Here are the facts and rumors that I can cobble together:

prior to Nov. 2007, the Rosenbergs owned all but the following:
Rite Aid
Triple Crown Lounge
Mad Hatter

Just before the end of the year, Mad Hatter sold their building to Center Point (a Webb Bros. company) and I heard that Triple Crown followed suit about a month later, even after the owner stated in the H-L that he wouldn't sell to Webb... I haven't been able to find any evidence of that sell, though.

Rite Aid is also rumored to be seeking space in the planned development across from the Main and Rose condos (that whole block is also scheduled to be raised soon, with new retail spaces planned). As long as that crappy Rite Aid has been there, surely something must be swaying their decision to look for another location....

So, if all of this is true, that leaves the whole block under the ownership of two entities (one already owns a good chunk of Lexington, the other owns half a block - guess who might be poised to win?)

Just wanted to say that Roscoe did an fantastic job organizing. If 80 people can ride all over town and end up at the same place through cold, and gale force winds and say they had a good time it had to be a great race. Thanks Roscoe

looks like someone on Swobo's blog site caught wind of our little race. Not sure how they found out, but it's kinda neat:

I believe that Stevil from Swobo found it when we put it up on our site: http://www.ghostshipclothing.com

We're based out of CT, that's why he took a stab at it happening there. Hope the race was a blast! If any of you are up in the CT area, please feel free to come through to some of our races. Grand Theft Velo II is coming up and we have a grip of great sponsors. Should be racers coming in from all over! Hope to meet you all sometime!
