Hey, my boyfriend's bike was stolen from Newtown Crossing either today or yesterday. He's had a lot thrown at him in life this past year (really), and honestly this was the last thing that needed to happen to him. Riding this bike was one of his favorite things to do, and he had big dreams of doing some extreme travel with it in the future. One of the most expensive things he owns. PLEASE any help would mean the world to him. You have no idea how incredibly grateful he and I would be; plus he'd be able to reduce his carbon emissions again (and you'd basically save the planet)
He hasn't been able to access the serial number tonight, but I'll update once he can.
Description:
Men's Blue and White Trek 2.1
UK Bike Permit decal located on frame (possibly ripped or scratched off at this point)
if you have any info, email goscootergooo@gmail.com or slalbr2@g.uky.edu
Many Thanks!

Those stickers are pretty difficult to remove, and especially hard to remove without leaving a trace of the sticker still on the bike (a thief would need to use some solvent or gunk remover to get it completely clean).
So, if the thief in this case was even aware enough of the bike registration sticker to think to remove it, you'll still probably be able to tell that it had one. As you can probably guess, I don't give bike thieves too much credit in their thinkin' skills, only thier takin' skills. _________________ ------------[] O |

update: Owner thinks he saw his bike unlocked at the Chevron station on Newtown Pike today around 5:30 pm. He turned his car around, pulled in, but it was gone; when he asked someone nearby about whether there had been a bike there, the person acted strangely and defensively. Drove off in a green pontiac grand am '98-'02
Now, we don't know if this person actually had anything to do with taking Scotty's bike, and we'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt. However, the situation was all very strange. We've updated the police report and hopefully they'll be able to look through surveillance and see who moved the bike that was out front.
Tireless Vigilantes, enjoy your Saturday nights! |

An awesome guy discovered the bike abandoned with the chain off in Addison park, a mile from where it was originally stolen. Scotty and I are so thankful he took the time to find the rightful owner Obviously this thief didn't know a thang about bikes since a) couldn't put the chain back on and b) was kind enough to shoddily add a taillight... on the handlebars haha
Oh well! We're just happy it's back!
THANK YOU, CHRIS! |
