I'm sure most of you are aware that we're going through a bout of vandalism at the courts lately. Everything from all the broken glass on the courts (to all of you who have had to sweep before playing these past few weeks, I'm sorry... but there's not much we can do until whoever's doing it gets bored and moves onto something else), to rocks thrown on the courts and now destruction of our court walls.
Yesterday, it was discovered that many of the supports for the walls had been kicked in such a way that they broke loose from the wall, and are going to need replacing.
I spoke with Parks & Rec today about this, and they are going to file a claim and cover it on their insurance, since the courts belong to them. This should allow us to be able to replace and rebuild those supports - possibly making them stronger and more vandal-proof.
Until then, please be aware that the walls are not as strong without those supports, so if you're not playing a game, try not to sit, lean, or stand on them as much as we normally have been. We'll try to coordinate a re-build day as soon as possible. _________________ ------------[] O |

Should we go ahead and replace every support with the reinforced ones?
Or just replace them as they get broken? |

Hey everyone, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Nick has just informed me that our friendly neighborhood court destroyers have been at it again. Apparently sometime between Sunday night and today (Tuesday), someone has taken to busting up the remaining court supports that had not been previously reinforced from the last time this happened. It's so bad this time, that a portion of the wall on court A is leaning in pretty badly. They also tossed the goals around and ripped the netting. That shit was expensive as hell.
I don't often ask for help, but this kind of shit has happened at a time when I really do not have much free time to go out and purchase building materials, cut the wood, and work on these repairs myself. I'm simply too wrapped up in work and deadlines to make this a priority. The last time this happened, it was basically me, Grant and Alex who did all the work to repair the broken sections.
The problem I see is that we cannot let too much time pass while these sections sit vulnerable to more damage. All it would take is one more night of fucking around and those walls would come down, causing us to have to completely rebuild those sections if they get ripped out.
Again, I'm asking for some help here. If anyone has the time, the motivations, and the know-how to work some simple power tools, we could use a few hands to pitch in to help get our courts back together.
Let me know if you're available to help. _________________ ------------[] O |

hey turner, sorry i missed the post and call to help. as previously mentioned, i dont check the forum as much and apparently neither do some other folks. i know its easier to post here, but in the future it might be more expedient to contact a few of us directly. kyle and i are down to help out as best we can and there are definitely plenty of other people who are happy to help with a little notice.
also, quit being a jerk all the time |

Thanks for the replies, guys. Sorry I didn't directly contact anyone asking for help, but I didn't want to put anyone on the spot or make anyone feel obligated... I just wanted to throw it out here on the forums, especially since it looks like many of the regular polo players have been watching the forums closely because of all the polo tournaments and events that everyone is trying to plan and coordinate.
Also, I'm not very good at asking for help
I just knew we had to move quickly because if we don't act fast to mitigate that kind of structural damage, it would only get exponentially worse and cause more work for us in the long run... that's something I want to avoid. I don't want to have to build those walls again. I made sure to have the materials for repair there on a regularly scheduled polo night (last night) hoping we'd have at least a few hands to help, and fortunately, we did.
The vandalism we've experience at Coolavin so far has shown us that whoever is doing it will exploit ANY weaknesses in our courts and equipment just to fuck shit up. Just like with the goals... someone fails to lock the chains around them and the chains end up getting stolen. Replace the chain and lock, but fail to chain them all to the fence and the goals get picked up and thrown around the courts, and the netting gets trashed. When we fail to reinforce the braces in the walls, they get busted apart.
It's likely not going to stop no matter what we do, so that's even more reason why we need to work together to stay on top of it and make sure we're not leaving those opportunities open. _________________ ------------[] O |

Thank you Brian for taking time out of your crazy busy life to do all this. YOU ARE THE BEST!
So if we have to text everyone every time we do anything to the courts, play polo, polo brunch, work on them... what's the fucking point of having this forum? Its a pain in the ass to text 30 people. _________________ ifuckinglovepolo
