Good Day Fine Ladies & Gentlemen of our Fair City,
Yes indeed, Tweed Ride 2011 will happen again in very much the same fashion as it did in 2010. All riders are encouraged to assemble at the start of the The St. Patrick's Day Parade along Midland Ave. (last year it was 12:30p.m.) If you miss the parade, we will re-assemble in front of the SideBar, in front of the new courthouse on Limestone to continue our pedaling about town (approx. 2:00).
Just what is a Tweed Ride, you might ask? The idea of a "Tweed Ride" hearkens back to an era of genteel sophistication and civility; when bicycles were the preferred means of transportation that empowered women and men alike to venture fort into society. Riders sport a look and style that evoke a time when things moved at a slower pace. All things dapper, vintage and mustachioed are encouraged!"
Riders are encouraged to mingle freely before the start, taking advantage of the fine beverage fare available at The SideBar. Following our orderly departure, we will saunter forth at a leisurely pace throughout downtown Lexington's most scenic and historic areas, with rest stops along the route.
Our meanderings will end at the Broke Spoke Community Bike Shop behind Al's on Limestone and Sixth Street.
This ride is FREE to all participants. Prizes will be awarded for the following categories:
Most Dapper Chap
Sassiest Lass
Most Stylish Steed (classiest bike)
Most Marvelous Mustache
This year there will be a secret judge amongst the riders.
Hope to see everyone there, last year we had a BLAST!!! _________________ ------------[] O

Broke Spoke will be up and running for a nice after party!
We will be slinging PBR and "Bike" Bombs (Edmond Fitz and Bailey's) out of the Sidecar. |

Your Cultivated Self knows how much fun you are going to have tomorrow spinning around the Athens of the West.....
Yes friends and comrades, show up on Midland Ave. at 12:30- 12:59 to parade ourselves down to the SideBar on Lime across from the New Courthouse. We'll mill around, and a bit after 2:00, the moving amoeba will side wind around historic Lexington. The ride will be a dignified, leisurely migration of four miles in duration. Photo ops will occur at all times, and we will stop at Thoroghbred Park and the Old Courthouse. Gratz Park, Hampton Court, and Coolavin Park will be involved. Awards and AfterParty will be at BrokeSpoke on the corner of Sixth and Lime behind Al's Bar.
...55-60 deg..!

What can I say comrades?
Today was a result of the goodness of our scene. Thanks everyone for participating in the second annual Tweed Ride. I think that I can speak for most in saying that we had a mutual Utopian experience. Of course we will do it again next year, but the spirit of the ride will spread out over the months to come in other like-minded events.
I implore all pictures taken today to be added to this forum for all to see.

I think it is really amazing that we (lexrides, etc) were able to pull off two really big bike events on the same day. Three or four years ago it would have taken everyone of us to be on the tweed ride to have 30 people there.
Now we can have a big polo tournament happening and a tweed ride and still have a big showing at both.
What did folks hear from the out-of-towners who did both polo and the tweed ride?
Great job everyone |

I over heard the guy that one best mustache, excitedly describing his prize to people down at the courts. |
