Lots of near misses for me on my way home. Was anyone else out today? I just love having to thaw my pants...

I was... but it was before it got dark and things got really interesting.

Rode from my house to Pedal Power for the big sale and back home before 6pm. Main streets were decent (although slushy), but anything else was kinda sketchy. Especially parking lots or streets with lots of tree shade. I'd be interested to hear if anyone attempted to ride after say, 8pm!

*for the record, I was on my polo bike with fat tires and low gearing.

Funny you say that because after I posted this I was inspired to go outside see how the streets were. Answer: Covered in ice (at least my street off of High is). It makes for great skidding to say the least. I was on my fixed gear both times and I have to say, I can't imagine having nearly as much control on a geared bike. Plus, there's a lot less stuff on a fixed gear bike that going to freeze up.

the one that's going on this weekend. Private party was last night for people who brought in the postcard mailer.

They had beer and strippers, and they were even giving tattoos. I scored a free Ultegra gruppo by winning the ring toss game.

just kidding... they did have free beer, though.

it was pretty nasty tonight again.

just another problem with geared bikes: cassettes with ice on them and frozen iced up deraileurs...

i need to get my fixed gear finished.
