3/8 chain for sale or trade. Heavy duty, will keep your bike from getting stolen if used properly. Can be slung over your left or right shoulder. You can even wear it around your waist so that you don't have to take the wieght all on your back. Fits somewhere around waist sizes 28-34. Twist the chain to shorten it before locking it. All you need is the best lock you can find. I suggest one of those round locks. They cost between $10 and $12.

Did you get a new lock, Patrick?

Also for the DIY industrious types here's where you can get the stuff to make your own heavy-duty "Kryptonite New York Chain" (complete with square, cut-resistant links and nylon abrasion sleeve) for less than $25. All you would need to find is a lock to fit the links on the chain.

McMaster-Carr:

Item # 36015T4 (chain)
Item # 55545K75 (nylon sleeve)

there is also a 36inch chain at Walmart that has the nylon guard already on it for about 15-17$ and it look to be about the same type of high grade steel the krytonite ones have. Although it says 36 inches i would say it was more around 30 bc it would fit around my waist..

Brokebike - thanks for the links to McMaster - they ship fast as hell! The links are a little smaller then I was expecting, finding a good lock to fit may be tricky. Any recommendations?
Thanks!
