Hello Bike Polo guys and gals! Greetings from the Lexington Inline Hockey Association!

We are an informal group of adult inline (roller) hockey players who play pickup games here in Lexington. All skill levels are welcome. Inline unlike ice hockey has no checking, icing and relaxed off side rules. Additionally we play with 5 players instead of ice hockeys 6.

As you may know Lexington Parks & Recreation Dept. tore down the Masterson Station roller hockey rink last year. This was done without much notice (or our consent) and now we are looking for a new home to play roller hockey.

I had the good fortune of meeting many of you yesterday during your Wednesday game. You very graciously shared your court with us. I know members of bike polo have put in a lot of money and sweat equity into repairing the Coolavin park courts. We would like to share the facility with you, but more importantly we would like to help you with maintaining the facility.

Furthermore I would like your input on when it would be ok for us to hold pick-up games at your court. I think that by joining forces with Bike polo we both have a better chance of getting some assistance from the city. We both share the same requriments to play our sports. A smooth, level playing surface with perimeter boards and we use the same type of ball.

I'd like to invite any of you with inline skates to come out for our season opener. I can supply hockey sticks and I strongly encourage you to wear shin guards, elbow pads, helmet and gloves. Let me know if you are coming!

Where: Castlewood Park tennis courts
When: Monday, April 16th @ 5:00pm till dark (and beyond, this is a lighted court)

I hope that in the future we can hold our games at Coolavin!

It was great talking with you yesterday at the courts, and thanks a bunch for coming out and helping everyone work on the crack-filling!

Tiffany just posted a court reservation schedule on the Lexington Bike Polo Facebook page.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/lexbikepolo/

and here's the actual Google document:

This will help with the questions you had about other groups using the courts. Hopefully everyone will be courteous and respectful, and realize that we'll have to come up with some system of sharing the courts and designating times if other groups are interested in using the Coolavin courts, which of course are part of a public city park. The soccer guys are a bit more rogue in their frequency of showing up, and there's never been a sure fire way of getting in touch with them, so hopefully we can somehow make them aware of this issue as well.

When is the next repair day? I will make every effort to attend and bring more hockey players to help. I think I will swing by this afternoon to see what the crack repairs look like since I left at 6pm right before the rental plate tamper arrived.

We would like a weeknight evening (other then Wednesdays) on one court to use after 6pm till 9pm. I am thinking Tuesdays but don't want to act before consulting the other players. We have our own goals which would be removed after every game and stored off site.

I saw yesterday the tremendous amount of sweat and treasure that the Bike Polo players have put into the Coolivan park courts. I want to reiterate that I mindful of this and want to work together with you.

A lot of us will be out of town for a tournament this weekend and I don't have the seal for the cracks we just repaired, so we will probably not be doing repairs until next week.

I updated the schedule here:
