That's funny, because this is the same stuff we had a TON of a year or so ago, and although people used it, I got the feeling that it wasn't the preferred material. People seemed just sort of "meh" about it...

I still have a bit of it, and so does Grant.

If what you bought actual solid core ABS, we'd all be pretty lucky. I'd be interested to know for sure if it is. Couple years ago, I went to every Lowe's and Home Depot in town, and even a few in surrounding counties, and all they had in terms of black ABS was the "cellular core" stuff that is mentioned in the link. They look similar, but one will say cellular core on the side of it, and if you look at the cross section, it looks well, cellular... with tiny holes throughout.

You can play with it for sure, but it is prone to cracking on hard hits, and it wears down really quickly.

Taking a closer look, there are tiny holes through out the piping...so it's not the same thing. Noobie mistake on my part

Oh.....why not? Sign me up for a head. I'd also be interested in a cap if cardinal mallet co is up and operating.

I wouldn't put too much money or effort into a cellular core ABS head, Jess. You won't have it long.

Brian, this stuff is thinner walled and I thought the black we had was HDPE?
They dont sell the solid core ABS in the US for some reason.

I'm not exactly sure if it was HDPE or ABS because we kinda just, well, it "fell" into our hands.

At any rate, on a strength scale, ABS is slightly stronger in tensile strength and has more compression strength than HDPE, but not by much. ABS should be more dense (and heavier) depending on the wall thickness.
