All-
I am pasting a message from Kenzie Gleason, LFUCG Ped/Bike coordinator, asking for locations where curb ramps are needed.
Granted, these are not exactly for bicycles, but they are part of "Complete Streets" infrastructure benefiting non-motorized users of the public right of way, especially the sight impaired.
Help see that your tax dollars for public infrastructure are equitably distributed and send location suggestions to Kenzie for consideration (kgleason@lexingtonky.gov).
Thanks everyone,
Mike

BPAC friends:

Great news...The Division of Engineering has some funding available for curb ramp installations and are looking for locations in need.
They have already installed about $66,000 worth of ramps this year and have about $30,000 remaining. They may only be able to address those on locally-owned routes (not major or minor arterials) and those that don't require major improvements (drainage, utility issues, etc). But, please don't let that stop you from providing those locations as well. We need to know about them too, even if we can't address them with these funds.
More good news is that over the last several years they have addressed the majority of locations that have been specifically requested by citizens (at least those that were on city routes) as well as ramps that were on a list developed from the pedestrian inventory that we completed for areas within a half mile of schools many years ago.
We've by no means gotten them all, but it's nice to hear that we are consistently chipping away at the retrofits each year.
Please forward any locations to me as soon as possible.
Thanks,
Kenzie
