Join us at the 1st Annual Bike for the Bluegrass presented by The Fayette Alliance and The Bluegrass Cycling Club and sponsor Wallace Station.
http://bikeforthebluegrass.eventbrite.com?ref=ebtn
Sponsored by The Fayette Alliance, Bluegrass Cycling Club, and Wallace Station.
Why: This ride will be a remarkable opportunity for the public to experience some of the most renowned thoroughbred farms in the Bluegrass—from the back of their bike. Riders will have an inside look at the unparalleled natural beauty, history, and “nuts and bolts” of our signature equine industry. As a gesture of support for The Fayette Alliance, Gainesway, Mt. Brilliant, Castleton Lyons, and Cobra Farms have agreed to open their gates exclusively for this event.
When: Sat, October 24th, 2009
8:30-9:30 AM Mandatory check-in at Gainesway Farm, enter through marked gate located on Paris Pike in Lexington, KY (registration online before October 21, 2009 is required, registration will not be allowed on the day of the event).
9:30 AM Voluntary bike education class led by a certified League of American Cyclists instructor
10:00 AM The rides will start (10-mile, 25-mile, and 45-mile)
Lunch by Wallace Station will be provided as riders finish their ride at Gainesway Horse Pavilion.
Where: There will be three ride options– a 10-mile family friendly ride on Gainesway’s private farm roads and 25-mile and 45-mile rides which will explore Gainesway, Cobra Farms, Mt. Brilliant, and Castleton Lyons.
Registration: Online registration is mandatory and the event will be limited to 150 cyclists. Registration closes on Wednesday, October 21. For a $30 registration fee riders can participate in the 10-mile, 25-mile, or 45-mile ride. Riders will also receive gourmet lunch from Wallace Station, a commemorative Bike for the Bluegrass t-shirt, ride support, a free subscription to The Fayette Alliance and free 2010 membership to BCC for new members. All proceeds raised will benefit The Fayette Alliance
*All registrants will be required to sign the Bike for the Bluegrass waiver at check-in on Saturday, October 24 between 8:30-9:30 AM to receive their ride packet (includes course map, wrist band, Bike for the Bluegrass t-shirt, subscription to The Fayette Alliance, and free 2010 membership to BCC for new members). Friends, this will be a great event. We still need a few volunteers. It should be an easy gig: a couple of hours keeping cyclists in check, a free t-shirt, and lunch. Give Charlene a shout if you are interested: charlene@fayettealliance.com. |
