First off, I have to say that I'm not one of those riders who is constantly plagued by flats. Several years ago, I made the not-so-miraculous discovery that by making sure my tire pressure was always correct (usually requires a once-a-week check to be sure), I dramatically lessened the amount of time I spent changing tires and patching tubes. Down to almost never. Sure, my tires still get sliced all to hell, but you'd be surprised at how well good pressure keeps the average garbage and debris from getting through to your tubes.
That said, the more I kept reading about the amazing flat protection built into Panaracer's new RiBMo commuter tires (the stupidest name for a tire, ever - and it says it really large on the sidewall, too), the more I wanted to see for myself. So, I bought a pair and have been riding them for a little over a month now. Swaying from my routine pressure checking, I'm actually trying to see how much I can fuck these tires up (aside from skidding down Mill Street, or playing polo on them). Those huge piles of broken glass on Euclid? I don't even try to avoid them... I roll right through them. I've explored the South Limestone construction piles and even did a few laps around the lots over by Old Pepper Distillery. And what's more, I haven't so much as checked the pressure in them in a month - although they are starting to seem a bit sluggish so I should probably hit them up next time out. The chunks of glass I've pulled out of these have been pretty substantial, but the tires seem to close up around the cuts, rather than lay wide open like most tires do.
So far, I'm impressed. We'll see how well they are doing by this time next year... there's so much rubber on these things, I'm confident I'll be riding them for a while to come. _________________ ------------[] O |

I think our commissioner has been bought by the corporate dogs of the bike industry. How much did they pay you?!?! I call for a full out coup, or perhaps a drawn out impeachment with hearings and stuff!! |

Look at you. You've resorted to back pedaling. You have no chance now, your days are numbered. |

Good... then you can move on to someone else to internet-stalk.
You're making me consider resorting to my magic "x" button. _________________ ------------[] O |
