That's right folks! Wildcat Wheels Bicycle Library, founded by our very own Shane Tedder is having it's Grand Re-Opening Celebration on Monday, the 24th of August at 6pm. We will be riding a short loop around UK's campus exclusively on our yellow bikes to promote cycling awareness, safety and the promote the shop. So please, if you have some time on Monday evening and would like to get out in a Critical Mass style ride around campus, come on by and help us promote the shop and the wonder that is the bicycle!

If you don't know about the shop, we started about 5 years ago with the goal of providing free bicycles to students, faculty and staff of the University of Kentucky to encourage cycling on campus and in Lexington and to make the roads safer for all cyclists through education and upgrades on University roads. We now house close to 100 bicycles, which we check out to patrons for a semester at a time for free. We also run a full service, community bike shop, complete with most of the tools and knowledge you need to become self-sufficient and independent on a bicycle. All of these services are available to UK students, faculty and staff any time we are open. Volunteers are always welcome and much appreciated. Thanks!!

Wildcat Wheels is a great campus operation that helps non-mechanical types like myself learn how to fix your own ride. It's similar to going to a bakery and learning how to bake your own bread. Wholesome. I only hope that the university appreciates this resource and will grow and expand the budget and staff at every opportunity.
