The Party on the Trail will provide a chance for the public to learn more about the Legacy Trail as well as to express their ideas about the trail to the consultants. This free, fun, family friendly event will have food, music, and great prizes. A police escorted bike ride along the route of the trail to the Party will leave Cheapside Park at 8:00 am that morning. For more information about the trail, or to express your ideas about the development of the trail, visit the Legacy Center’s website: www.legacycenter.ning.com
We will also be at Thursday Night Live on October 23 to talk about the trail and drink some beer....stop by.
Lexington’s new Legacy Trail connects downtown to the Kentucky Horse Park. It’s a 9-mile recreational trail. Bike. Run. Walk. Play. Learn. Relax.
Got more big ideas? Let’s talk.
Our legacy starts here. |

Matt and I were there from this board that I knew, and many others.
Couple notable things. The plan is to have an engineering document by next summer to bid contracts and start building. That's an unprecedented pace for this city. The money and momentum are behind the project and regardless how the alignment works out, there will be lots of discussion about trails in the city. The rising interest in trails will lift all other projects I hope.
There's a direct benefit for polo. The abandoned rail line by Coolavin will probably be part of the trail. The legacy will focus on public art and connecting parks, and since Coolavin is the biggest neighborhood park on the trail, I suspect the park and polo courts will generate a great deal of interest. On the planning maps in fact, there's a photo of bike polo in action and I recognized some of you skinny geeks.
As for the party: Big Maracas, lots of food, trick-or-treats of blinkies, pedometers, spoke things, and Matt and I each won $50 gift certificates...matt's for the morris bookshop and mine for pedal power. |
