Last night my 2010 SPECIALIZED AMIRA comp, (red and white - image attached) was stolen from inside my place of business at 212 N Upper Street. On the bike was my Garmin 705 Edge.

I saw your bike being ridden on Bellaire (the street beside West Sixth Brewing) on Thursday evening (around 5:30pm). The guy riding it was a black male, late teens to early 20's, approx. 5' 10" or so, and he appeared to have short-ish dreads.
I saw him circle the rear parking lot where our studio is, and I immediately noticed that the bike he was riding looked way too nice to be his (sorry, but you sometimes have to call these when you see 'em). I then watched as he rode over to the door of the Rollergirls practice space and he tried to open the door (fortunately it was locked). That said to me that this guy was just looking to take advantage of whatever he could find to take.
As I walked out the door to ask him if he needed help with anything, he rode off back down Bellaire towards 7th St. I went to Lexrides to see if anyone had reported a red and white Specialized as stolen, but didn't see anything. My guess is you probably hadn't realized it was gone at that point.
I'm over there on a daily basis, so I'll keep an eye out... but you should ride around in that area, because there's a good chance it's there somewhere. _________________ ------------[] O |

Thank you for your message - its very helpful.
I knew it was gone within ten minutes of it being taken, but did not learn about this web-site until yesterday afternoon! Your description of the perp fits the description given by witness that encountered the guy before he took my bike. He had approached a colleague in the parking lot asking for money for the bus because he had a flat tire on his bike. From there he entered our building, presumably to make a plea for money at the various offices housed in the building (this happens frequently). Upon entering my office suite he obviously saw my bike and took it in lieu of asking for money. He just happened to enter when we were in another area of the office. Typically we have a dog in the office - of all days for the dog to stay at home!!!! He took it around 5:15 Thursday eve - so you saw him immediately after he took it.
thank you so much for info and for keeping a look out for it - keeping my fingers crossed. |
