|

I just got off the phone with the fellow that runs Nonesuch Campground, and it's all set! We have a destination for the Bike Camp Out. I'm really excited to have a go at this and hope that others will jump on board to make this an awesome finale to bike month. Loosely these are the details:
May 30-31
Leave Lexington at about 5:30 arrive at Nonesuch campground around 7:30
BYOB
Sag wagons available for tents and coolers and such
6$ per person
Any proceeds after camp fees will go to something that we decide on that night, World Bike Relief, Refugee Bikes, a bike rack for a well deserving business... _________________ CHECK YES! |

Great work Matt. As for your benefactor, would you consider the Town Branch Creek Trail? They're getting passed over right now what with the Legacy Trail and all. |

I would, I imagine any proceeds maybe small, but still appreciated I'm sure. The more folks that come out the better! _________________ CHECK YES! |

The route will go out Keene-Troy Rd. to Pauls Mill and then Cummings Ferry till it falls into the river. It's about 25 mi. Much shorter than any of Rich's races. _________________ CHECK YES! |

OK, so because there is no real precedant for an event like this, that I am aware of, I don't really know how many folks are going to show. What I'm asking of you is that you RSVP with me at my email - mattypichu@yahoo.com - by May 20th so that I can know what to expect. This way we can be prepared and have enough of everything for everyone. A million thanks. _________________ CHECK YES! |

Alright, if you are coming and I have not already talked to you in person here are the details. Meet at Pedal Power at 5:00 on Sat. ready to roll. If you have someone who is wanting to drive out have them be there also so that we can put some stuff in their vehicle. I am so excited for this, I'm going after work to get hot dogs and s'mores... _________________ CHECK YES! |

Thanks for organizing such a fun trip, Matt! I had a blast and can't wait to do it again.
Short recap:
8 of us left on bikes from Pedal Power at around 6:30 pm on Saturday (Me, Tim, Boyd, Kyle, Rebecca, Julia, Matt and Matt's friend David). A couple of cars carrying tents, food and coolers were driven out in advance by a few awesome wives/girlfriends.
The ride was approx. 22 miles from Pedal Power to the campground in Nonesuch, and was one of the most scenic rides I've been on in a while. We stopped a few times to enjoy the scenery and made it to Nonesuch in about 1-1/2 hours. Billy from Pedal Power was kind enough to have several stacks of firewood waiting for us when we arrived.
Also joining us at the campground were a few other Lexrides members who lived in the area (Clay aka "stringa" being one of them). At about 2am, after hours of hanging out around the campfire, consuming hot dogs, beer, bourbon and smores, the sky opened up with lightning and thunder and dumped buckets of rain and pea-sized hail on us. Luckily, everyone had a tent to go to, and the storm only lasted about 45 min.
The next morning we woke up to clear skies, packed up and rode back in for a breakfast/lunch at Ramsey's.
