Matt didn't charge for these rides, because he's a great guy. I would have charged at least 25¢ for each kid.
This brings up I think an interesting option for 2009 Bikelex. How can bike polo give back to local kids?

I think encouraging other uses for the court (like high speed soccer), while preserving our sacred time slots of course, is one easy thing we could do that benefits the community slightly more than drinking beer and swinging sticks. Other than that, maybe a bike repair clinic there, a day or two a month where we offer to fix bikes for people in the neighborhood, or community murals if we ever do get any sort of plywood barriers or fences to line the court. _________________ "AK'll light up your chest like ET."

I like this idea a lot. I'd be down for this. I could bring mine and Tim's stands and even a truing stand.
On the soccer side of things, Rudy told me that they have been trying to spread the word among the hispanic folks at other Parks events and have dropped the notion to some of the guys who play baseball there at Coolavin... just in case they, or other folks they know might be interested. I bet some of the people who play on the indoor leagues might be interested as well if they put some body-armor on their knees. |
