ok here is how it's breaking down...
Start/Finish at Al's bar. Registration 5pm. Race 7pm sharp.
Bring bag, lock, lights, and your legs.
$5 entry fee, plus drinking money.
All proceeds/donations go toward polo court construction.
Bring everyone you know that enjoys riding a bike because even casual riders will enjoy the beer specials and feel good about supporting the bike community.

Thanks

posters are up around town, myspace is in effect, been up on the front page of this site and at the top of the Alleycats, Races & Events forum for some time now. Basically not any different than the usual ways these races are locally promoted... so, it's definitely out there.
If anyone is wanting more races, or any other bike events - by all means, step up and make one happen. We're (hopefully) all in this together to help make this town a better place for bikes and a more fun, interesting city all around.
The bike scene here will get stale fast if all we do is put on alleycats with the same format, and the same group of riders showing up all the time. Props to all those who have helped to mix it up a bit. _________________ ------------[] O |

Do you need help with checkpoints? with a cast resulting from the polo tourney in chicago, there is little i can do that is involved with high speeds. email me if you do.

i don't mean to sound like a square but do most alley cats involve a lot of red light running? I've only done the warehouse race and loved it, I'm interested in doing alley cat races but I really don't want to blow through red lights so that I can remain competitive. _________________ Father Charles Goes Down And Ends Battle |

technically, they say not to, if you are going to try to win, prolly. that said, i generally dont, and generally finish mid pack in the 3 or 4 ive done.
its more just about fun than anything else |

I've never even come close to winning an alleycat, so I know I'm not fast even when I pick out a fool-proof route. I don't really ride in alleycats to win anyways... to me it's more about participating in the bike scene, hanging out with friends, and doing something different on a bike other than just riding around to get somewhere. But, there's so many people out there who only think of a bike as something to compete against others on, which is fine I guess, but I've always found that mindset kinda hard to relate to.
it would really suck to injure yourself, or worse because you felt compelled to do something stupid to win... especially when no one really gives a shit about who wins an alleycat except the person who won. _________________ ------------[] O |

Its up to you, but I say if you've never run a red light in the course of your every day riding, don't start doing it in the middle of an alleycat. Riding above your skill level because you're getting carried away by the race is a good way to get hurt. |

it is skill, until that rare godless day you find your head pinned between a car tire and asphalt.
don't emergency service vehicles have some way to communicate with lights? if so, couldn't alleycaters employ this technology?
btw rocknroll....i'm ready to rock n roll |
