As forwarded by Kenzie Gleason on the BPAC listserve,
"There will be a public meeting this Friday, April 18 on the preliminary Streetscape Master Plan. It will be an open house format from 5 to 8pm. It will be held on the 2nd floor mezzanine of the Government Center at 200 East Main Street. It sounds like they will be deferring recommendations on exact curb to curb dimensions (i.e. bike lanes) until a traffic study can be conducted afterall. Hope some of you can make it. Kenzie"
I encourage everyone to attend this public meeting. The city is really pushing to get the Streetscape Mater Plan finalized incredibly soon so we need to get our voice heard now. If you're going to be downtown for Gallery Hop on Friday, you should swing by the Government Center.
If you aren't able to attend the meeting, you should fill out the Lexington Streetscape Mater Plan survey that was posted on the forum earlier.

Dear Friend,
Lexington has hired the Covington-based landscape architecture firm of Kinzelman Kline Grossman to develop a Master Plan that will set priorities for downtown design improvements, for example new sidewalks, green spaces, lighting, benches, etc. They have been working in our community for several months, gathering input from citizens and developing expertise in our downtown.
This Friday, April 18, their latest drawings representing ideas for our streetscape will be on view during Gallery Hop, 5-8 p.m., at the Government Center, 200 E. Main St. The firm’s representatives will be on hand to answer your questions. These improvements are important to the long-term future of our downtown.
Please join us for Gallery Hop from 5-8 p.m., Friday, April 18. For more information
contact Mike Webb at 859-258-3906 or at mwebb@lfucg.com.
Sincerely,
Jim Newberry

Note that the public meeting time has been changed from 5-7 to 5-8 so they'll be available during the entire gallery hop. |
