Received a nice little holiday kick in the balls this morning from LFUCG, which came in the form of an invoice basically saying that any business entity in Fayette Co. - regardless of having a physical business location or not - is now required to pay a new annual occupancy fee of $100.
Just in time for the holidays! What a way to support local and small businesses who are already strapped this time of the year - with the economy being as it is. _________________ ------------[] O |

Just goes to show, as with pretty much everything else Lexington as a whole just doesn't "get it". _________________ ------------[] O |

I still haven't gotten my letter, but I just read someone else's.
If you read the gobbledygook under the second bullet point it says "this minimum fee can be used as a nonrefundable credit toward the net profit license fee". So people are going to pay the first $100 of their county occupational license tax on 12/31/08 and the rest on 4/15/09. It'll be the same total tax amount for businesses reporting more than $20K net profit in fayette county.
Newberry's not being an asshole to all local businesses, just the small ones that don't make very much money. Fucker.
Don't listen to me for tax advice, I'm probably wrong. |
