Bike month is shaping up to be an amazing 31 days of full on celebration for the bicycle.
It is really cool to look at the Bike Lexington Calendar (still being developed) and see the presence LexRides folks have in the grand scheme of things. Below is just a sample of what folks on this forum and folks who you know in the community have been able to pull together.
Every Thursday in May there are Commuter Advocacy Breakfast at various downtown locations from 7:30 -9 am
Every Wednesday in May there will be Bike Education classes taught by LCI's at the courthouse plaza (great public presence)
May 2 Oaks Day Alley Cat with after party at Al's Bluegrass Bar
May 4 Velo Swap at The Void (Word is both Asher and Scott Saxon are going to set up tons of bikes)
May 8 Bike Progressive Dinner
May 11 Bike Polo Event
May 16 Time Trial races down and back on Euclid. The street will be completely closed.
May 17 10 mile family fun ride, Downtown Crit races in the afternoon
May 18 Crit races at Coldstream
May 23 Share the Road Ride
May 27 Bike to Bluegrass:Southland Jamboree
May 30 "Who Done It" Alley Cat
This is just a limited list and I will post the calendar, web site, etc when everything is finalized. This list does not include the various club/group rides, bike maintenance clinics, Horsey, etc.
If you want to volunteer for any event listed above email me at politicalhero@gmail.com |

The countdown to the greatest month of the year has begun! 3 days and counting...
this Thursday kicks off Bike Lexington with an early morning commuter "meet and greet" breakfast at Common Grounds Coffee Shop from 7:30 - 9am. Swing by on your way to work, or just wake up early and have coffee with fellow cyclists. Chat about bike stuff over breakfast while the rest of the world drives by.
Then at 6pm, Pedal the Planet hosts a group ride that will leave from their shop on Richmond Rd.
Also at 6pm, three different Bluegrass Cycling Club rides will depart from various locations. Check their site for more info, because there will be many more of these nearly every day throughout the month. |
