the fire marshal here in town must be sweating his job or something, because he's really been cracking down and f-ing a lot of potentially good stuff up lately... namely, Beaux Arts, the second Warehouse Race we were supposed to have, the Ice House...

i think he is feeling the heat for college heavy events after some of the college fires that have happened in the last two years. that, and all three of the events/places you mentioned are sort of fringe events (namely the ball), which im sure some of the old money in lex is not too keen on.
